monday mantra.

i can't tell you how many times a week this thought crosses my mind.
typically it's when i'm really busy, i see a need, and then put off the thought.
it's a constant reminder that i not only need to observe needs, but to also follow through with them.

this is such a silly example of this, but it truly reminded me of this principle.  this summer derek and i went to the driving range to hit some golf balls.  i noticed a dad with his two sons, probably 13 and 7.  the younger one had run out of balls to hit and you could tell he was getting antsy.  this thought popped into my head, "first observe, then serve."  i observed a need.  i still had a fourth of my bucket, so i walked it over and handed it to this young boy.
obviously, this wasn't a need of desperation.  but i thought of this dad wanting to enjoy himself that evening at the golf course.  i thought of the son continually asking his dad when they'd be done.  sometimes service appears in the simplest of ways.

  1. I know you didn't write this post to be told this, but you are amazing. Really truly.
