what i've learned by reading "women and the priesthood"...

[the day i went through the temple, may 2012]

i've had the great opportunity to read the book by sheri dew, "women and the priesthood".  for starters, i would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.  boy or girl.  i have learned so much, have strengthened my faith, and have been enlightened and uplifted

these are my thoughts:
1.  that God is our Father and Jesus Christ is our Savior. and they are perfect.
2.  that God loves all of His children.  individually and perfectly.
3.  who are we to govern God and His plan?
4.  womanhood and priesthood rely on one another.  without each other we cannot be made perfect.
5.  i have great power, capacity and ability as a woman in the church.  the church does not hinder me, but allows me to progress further than i would be able to on my own.
6.  there is a plan.  a perfect plan.  we may not always understand it, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.
7.  we must learn for ourselves, by the holy spirit, what we believe.  we can and should receive revelation for ourselves.
8.  women have divine roles.  we are "noble and great".  we can receive all blessings.  we have a divine mission.
9.  it all makes sense with the spirit and with faith.  it's okay to have questions.  but "doubt your doubts, before you doubt your faith."
10.  that i am a firm believer in womanhood.  i am a firm believer in families.  i am a firm believer in God's plan.  and i will stand strong in defending these things.

  3. ever thought about how Heavenly Father has all the virtues - the nurturing/"motherly" ones and the guiding/"fatherly" ones? things that we say mothers are best at, like caring, kindness, nurturing, Heavenly Father has too. each of us strive for ALL the virtues. and by LDS definition, "God" is a woman and a man sealed for eternity. but we tend to use "God" to refer to only Heavenly Father. so who's to say that we have enough understanding to say we know what roles mothers and fathers have in the eternities. besides, the way we define "gender" in the world today is not by God but by man.
