dallas highlights.

for fall break we decided to spend the weekend in dallas to visit derek's mom.  what a great choice that was!  we started our adventures with a stop by the dallas temple.  then we were on our way to the dallas arboretum.  it was such nice weather that i had on my shorts, t-shirt, and sandals.  the best.  let me tell you a story.  the last time i was at the arboretum was the dead middle of july.  110+ degrees.  and i told derek i would NEVER live in texas.  this trip was much, much better.  the monarchs were migrating and had stopped by the hundreds.  it was fascinating.  they had the craziest lily pads, and plants, and everything was huge.  [it's true, everything is bigger in texas.  even the plants.]  but the coolest part of the arboretum was the fall festival.  so. many. pumpkins.  i was in fall heaven.  i didn't even know there were that many types of pumpkins.  totally the neatest.
we also got to meet a lot of people who are good friends to my mother-in-law.  we had dinner with jason and emily!  [our goal is to see them on every vacation we go on this year!]  and we just had an awesome time talking and spending time together.
....the rest of the trip coming soon.
