sunday waffles.

 grandpa makes sunday waffles.

a few sundays back we went to visit grandma and grandpa walter.  we had stayed for quite a while and it was almost dinner time.  grandpa asked, "anyone want sunday waffles?"  now, i had had grandpa's sunday waffles before, but i didn't know the whole story.

i always thought they were called "sunday waffles" because they were a typical sunday meal, but they are literally called sunday waffles.   grandma told us how she put this cookbook on layaway before they were married and paid a few dollars every month for a whole year.  grandpa told us how he made this flour scoop in 7th grade woodshop class.  it's made from a soup can.

anyways, grandpa's specialty is sunday waffles.  grandma says she's not even allowed to make them.  and they are delicious.  best waffles i've ever tasted.

sunday waffles recipe
