we quickly left, since we were all awake at 6 am. we decided on breakfast at the train station. we got "japanese portions" of food. basically it was maybe two bites of eggs.
then we headed to the asakusa market. so many shops, so many people, so much fun. we tried sweet red bean pancakes, saw beautiful cherry blossoms, and bought lots of souvenirs.
i also paid a buck to draw out a fortune out of the fancy fortune boxes. i picked a good one of course. something about being happy and successful. [typical, right?]
[this is what i miss the most already. peach nectar. so tasty.]
our next stop was walking across town to the tokyo sky tree. on our way we took asian pictures, i got scared out of my mind by a homeless man [didn't see him sleeping there and almost ran him over], and saw more mini van cars. everybody here drives a van. everybody. addison wanted a "despicable me" pic. you know, the part that says "look, i've got the skytree in my hands." bytheway, the skytree is the world's tallest tower. that's a big deal. and derek did a report on it for school. also a big deal. we went up 350 meters in 30 seconds on an elevator. we stood on a glass floor, which was terrifying. and mom made this old japanese couple stand on it with her. sooo funny. they became fast friends.
after the skytree our feet were killing us. i wanted something like american food [that didn't include fish] so we found a hard rock for dinner. while waiting for the subway we took selfies in the mirror.
we found a 100 yen [dollar store] and picked up some dice. we played "bones" at home that night. derek was happy that he finally beat the family in a game and mom didn't even get on the board. our internet device came from a compnay named "pupuru". you better believe it was the "butt" of a lot of jokes....we're so funny and super mature.
today i learned: evvvvverybody in tokyo dresses up. like for being the biggest city in the world, we probably saw 5 people wearing jeans. and if they were wearing jeans, they still had fancy shoes on. it's just a culture thing, but they are super well dressed. [except for those platform shoes that were so 2000.]
also, japan is just a super safe place. like, 7 year olds ride the subway home, by themselves at 8 pm, and it's not even a concern. and i felt safe walking down alleyways at night. i don't even feel that safe in provo half the time. way awesome.

Loving your posts! I've been a lame blog reader when "Reader" went away. How fun that you got to go to Japan!! We went back to Taiwan after Jason's mission (and WAY after Scott's mission there) and had a great time also. Look forward to seeing you guys this summer. Two of the many things that rock with this post: sunglasses pic, elevator foot shot!
