but really, i just love middle schoolers.

today was the last day of the semester.  i handed out an anonymous teacher survey for the kids to fill out about their experience in the class.  these are the reasons i love middle schoolers.

1.  What did Mrs. Asay do well as a teacher?
"yes, very well."
"she did everything good on everything."
"got mad at me a lot."
"she was the right amount of teacher and friend."
"sometimes i couldn't get what to do, but Mrs. Asay help me and took care about me, so i was really thankful for that."
"that if you don't follow the rules you can hurt yourself."

2.  What could Mrs. Asay do better?
"let us not take notes so much and yell a little more.  actually not yell."
"not stab herself with shears."  (this was pretty much on every other paper)
"try not to get hurt."
"keep her balance."
"nothing, she's perfect the way she is now." (ha. fooled them.)

3.  If you were the teacher, what would you do differently?
"i would try not to cut my foot with shears or fall in front of the whole class."
"show hgtv."
"i would have a snack sign up sheet and we would have parties"
"i wouldn't know anything like as much as you do."
"nap time."

additional comments:
"miss asay,
i loved having you, you were the best!  i was excited every day (besides test day) to come and learn from you.  you were so funny and extreemly cute.  never change.
<3/ your student"

"you are so funny.  you're so pretty ms. asay!  BEST TEACHER EVER!"
(at least some of them get my humor...ha)

okay, okay.  maybe it's because i've spent every day with them since august.
but really, i just love them all.  these responses made me laugh so hard.  and some were just sweet.
i love being a teacher.

  1. Lol- that's too funny. Clearly the foot cutting incident was very memorable to them!
