10.11.12

why it was wonderful.
-grandma told grandpa the date was "10-11-12."  he responded, "is that a significant one?" we all laughed.
-last real day of teaching high school. and realizing i've made it halfway!
-nice comments from students and advice on how to improve.
-the game of life. [fyi: the new version is super lame. and way too high tech. and they don't even have the little people to add to your car when you get married and have kids.]
-getting done early and catching derek before he went to class.
-bff reunion in real life. seeing kelsy for the first time since she's been home and going to kayla's. it was almost as if no time had passed at all.
-creeper status pictures. fail.
-getting the nintendo 64 from the parents. [guess what date nights will be for the next two days until i'm sick of it already?... ha]
-taking 10 minutes to figure out how to pay for parking. twice.
-city creek mall. [just the design of the actual mall itself. those stores are far too pricey.]
-walking through the mall looking like sister missionaries. with our bags and all.
-almost destroying an entire shelf display at anthropologie.
-dinner and temple trip for grandpa's 85th birthday with the family.
-most incredible bread and artichoke dip at blue lemon.
-salt lake temple for the first time. AMAZING. everything about it.
-being inside the temple with family and bff's is just the best. ever.  [missing derek.]
-seeing where grandma and grandpa were married. now it's an elevator shaft. but as grandpa said, "we just like to think that it's a representation of our lives...we've had a lot of ups and downs."
-finding out that if you are dying of thirst, but you have a piece of celery, you can get enough water out of it to suffice.
-drive home radio playlist made just for me.
-hugs from derek after a long day.

wednesday was kind of rough. derek said he'd pray extra hard.
i sure felt it yesterday, i noticed all the little things to make me happy.
and it was a simply wonderful day.

  1. when i nannied this summer we played life like 5 times a day and putting the people in the car was the kids favorite part! they would cheat so they would land on the "twins!" and "baby boy!" spaces hahaha.
