"it feels like i'm sleeping inside a quesadilla."

who doesn't love going on a camping escapade?

we had been talking about going camping for a week.

it was the day before the fourth and knew that everywhere was full. [or on fire.]

so we decided that we would just camp out in derek's grandparents backyard.

after all, they do live up on a mountain.

we quickly packed up our things and were on our way.

pita pizzas and green beans on the propane burner.

 ever since seeing this on pinterest i've been dying to sleep in the back of a truck.

we got everything all ready, jumped in and derek stated, "it feels like i'm sleeping in a quesadilla."

FYI:

the air mattress was an awful idea.

it lost all it's air and it was like rock climbing trying to get out of the sunken middle.

for future attempters: just load it with lots of pillows and blankets.

we were going to watch "sandlot" but fell asleep instead.

and just as we were about to sleep the full moon came up over the mountain and looked like the neighbors turned their lights back on...

we had fun nonetheless.

 

derek claims he woke up 14 times.

i only said 4-5. 

but one of those times it was too pretty, so i snapped a couple pics and went back to sleep.

then, we watched the sun come up.

 and this is my accidental "dementor" picture.

 for breakfast we can thank pinterest again.

the world's best orange rolls.

and the competition to claim the title of "speed champion" has begun.

we went home and went straight back to bed.

it was a highly successful camping trip.

[and we were grateful for the use of modern toiletries.]
